Anne K. AltmanWith more than 25 years of experience working with the U.S. federal government, Anne Altman has extensive experience counseling of government officials on information technology solutions that address their everyday needs. As managing director, U.S., Federal, IBM Corporation, she leads an organization of 4,000 IBM professionals committed to building and safeguarding IBM’s business relationship with the federal government. Altman joined IBM in 1981 as a systems engineering working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice. She later became IBM’s sales representative for the U.S. Department of State and, in 1990, became the IBM sales manager supporting all U.S. military intelligence customers. In 1993, she led the business development organization of IBM’s federal business and two years later was named software sales executive for federal government customers. Altman later became a program executive in IBM’s worldwide software operation and a director of worldwide software accounts. Altman was named director of marketing, IBM Global Government Industry, in 1999. In this role, she was responsible for the development and deployment of business plans and marketing programs for local, regional and central government customers around the globe. The following year she was appointment vice president, U.S. Federal Government, assuming responsibility for the sale of hardware, software, and services to the federal market. In 2001, she was named managing director, U.S. Federal, expanding her sales role by assuming full business management responsibilities for all aspects of the federal business. Altman regularly delivers congressional testimony on behalf of IBM on topics concerning e-government and national security. She has been an active participant in a number of government-related review boards, working with organizations like the National Academy of Public Administration, The National Science Academy and the Private Sector Council. Additionally, she is the recipient of several industry awards, including Federal Computer Week’s Top Federal 100; AFFIRM Leadership Award for Industry, and the CIO Council’s Azimuth Award for the Industry Executive of the Year. Altman currently serves on the boards of the Government Electronic Industry Association Executive Committee, Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. |
