Rachel BrunsRachel Bruns is a junior in the Honors College, studying global affairs with a concentration in global economy and management. She is also pursuing a minor in women and gender studies. In addition to her studies, Rachel is an active member of the Mason community, leading and participating in a variety of activities. Rachel currently serves as Executive Director of a pro-bono non-profit student consulting firm, Social Venture Consulting. Rachel's passions for social entrepreneurship were ignited when she participated in a mission trip to Ghana in West Africa. Rachel is proud to expand SVC with new partnerships for 2011, collaborating with The Mason Center for Social Entrepreneurship and University of Maryland Center for Social Value Creation. Since her freshman year, Rachel has served as a Mason Ambassador; currently, she serves as the Vice President of Events for the organization. Rachel is also a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the L-Team (Leadership Team). In a previous capacity, Rachel served as President of the GMU Chapter of Students Helping Honduras, a non-profit organization working in El Progreso, Honduras, and participated in a service trip with the group in January 2010. Rachel has also served as a student staffer in the Women and Gender Studies Center.
Rachel's professional experiences include an internship with a Carnegie Mellon Fellow on the Medill Project on Targeted Warfare and International Law and an internship with an economic research boutique in Bethesda, MD. For the last four years, she has worked for the Department of Defense at an Army Research, Development and Engineering Center. |
