C. Daniel Clemente

In a career spanning more than thirty years as an attorney, consultant, receiver and trustee, Dan Clemente has represented clients ranging from Muhammad Ali to branches of the Cargill and Kohler families. As a consultant, he has acted on behalf of corporations and high-net-worth individuals, developing litigation and mediation strategies and directing action plans, drawing together teams of litigators, investment bankers and other professionals to implement resolution strategies. He has also been the lead negotiator in structured settlements.

Mr. Clemente founded and Chaired Community Bank and Trust Company; was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Virginia National Bank/Fairfax; founded First Commercial Bank, and served as President and General Counsel for wholly-owned real estate subsidiaries of Virginia National Bank and other lending institutions. He was elected to the board of directors of Hollywood Casinos Shreveport and all of its affiliates as an independent director to preside over disputes with bondholders holding $140 million of debt and the sale of casino property. He was issued a Key Gaming Employee conditional permit by the Gaming Control Board of the State of Louisiana.

He has served as a court appointed Receiver and Trustee in Bankruptcy for more than thirty companies, limited partnerships and joint ventures with real estate holdings and business operations throughout the country. He worked with the Resolution Trust Corporation and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on the restructuring and disposition of real estate portfolios.

Mr. Clemente received his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. He has been qualified as an expert witness in litigation involving complex real estate, corporate and business issues in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland, the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Maryland, the Circuit Court of Fairfax County, Virginia, the Circuit Court of Arlington County, Virginia, the Circuit Court of Loudoun County, Virginia, the Circuit Court of Prince William County, Virginia and the District of Columbia Superior Court.

He was nominated to be Chairman of the Resolution Trust Corporation by Senator John Warner. He was also appointed by Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder to chair the Virginia Economic Recovery Commission's Committee on Capital Formation. Most recently he was appointed by Governor Mark Warner of Virginia to the Governor's Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates.

Mr. Clemente has developed and manages a vast personal real estate portfolio. Equity partners have included John Gutfreund (after his retirement as chairman of Solomon Brothers), William Ogden (after his retirement as vice chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank), Rafael Salama, and Capital Gazette, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Landmark Communications, Inc.

Mr. Clemente lives with his wife and children in McLean, Virginia.
